Tucked away in the back areas of New jersey lies Clinton road. The street is covered from side to side with lush trees and the road winds up and down. Because the trees are so close together and it’s just ten miles of you and nature, things get somewhat creepy.
Like the story of a young boy who fell to his death off a bridge on Dead Mans curve. Supposedly, if you throw a coin into the water below, the coin will be tossed back at you. There is another story of a young woman who died in a Camaro in 1988 and if you speak of her at night, she will manifest. And along Terrace Pond, two park rangers who died in 1939 haunt the area.
There was an insane asylum that was said to have been built somewhere along the road, devil worshipers are said to often meet in the woods and the KKK is supposedly active in the area as well. There are strange animals that have been reported but some believe they may be mutated hybrids- a result of the exotic animals being released from the Jungle Habitat park upon it’s closure in 1976. There have also been reports of a mysterious truck that will tailgate drivers and nearly run them off the road before disappearing.
If that’s not frightening enough then what about a real murder?
Serial killer Richard Kuklinski, also known as ‘The Iceman’, was a mafia hitman who used Clinton road as a dumping ground for the hundreds of people he murdered from 1950 to 1980. He earned his name by freezing corpses in order to disguise their time of death.
Whichever the case, the road is said to give drivers and their passengers uneasy feelings of dread. Sometimes the feelings become so intense that they must turn back and use another way to get around. There have been many deaths along the road, if not for the murders, then for the winding curves and twists. Whatever the case, just be careful if you go down the road at night.
